April 2023 Cruise - Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam from Ft. Lauderdale to San Diego via the Panama Canal
Our April cruise through the Panama Canal started on Easter Sunday as we left Ft. Lauderdale in a thunderstorm. We made stops at Grand Turk, Aruba, Cartagena, Colombia, through the Panama Canal, Costa Rica, Puerta Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and finally to San Diego. The Panana Canal transit was fascinating and took all day. There was a wide variety of ships going through the canal. We stayed a few extra days in San Diego to see the sights there. We had an excellent experience on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Heavy rain leaving Ft.
